    Spyglass Gypsies

    Harking back to the speakeasy clubs of the 1920s and 30s, Spyglass Gypsies faithfully recreate the sounds of the Parisian ‘Hot Clubs’, and particularly the stylings of gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club de France.

    Combining traditional ‘Manouche’ repertoire with tasteful originals and gypsy influenced modern classics, Spyglass Gypsies deliver an energetic and playful performance, displaying all the subtleties and nuances of a highly communicative and intuitive ensemble, while still retaining the fire and passion of the gypsy jazz style. Performing regularly throughout Sydney since early 2010, Spyglass Gypsies have been steadily carving out a niche with their own brand of French gypsy infused jazz and swing.

    Comprised of musicians Richard Ashby (guitar), Loretta Palmeiro (clarinet/saxophone), Andrew Scott (accordion), and Shannon Haritos (double bass), their music is perfectly suited to intimate small to medium venues, allowing their light yet rich sound to be full appreciated.
